Exploring Banos and Puyo Ecuador

Banos is one of our favorite locations in Ecuador. Banos and Puyo are included as part of our extended tour exploring Ecuador after the Quito international convention and after the BCT Guayaquil Branch and coastal tour which includes another one of our favorites Montanitas. The extended tour Starts Feb 3 the same day two BCT Ecuador trips end. Baños (de Agua Santa) is a small city in the Andean highlands of Ecuador under the smoke of volcano Tungurahua. Its name, which is Spanish for “Baths (of sacred water),” comes from the famous hydrothermal springs in the area. It’s equally popular with foreigners as with Ecuadorians, and is known as the adventure capital of Ecuador. The streets are lined with hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, and tour adventures and options. Although it seems a bit touristy and full of trekkers from around the world, lots of people love it (as do Camilla and I and most of those who’ve visited Banos with us), and it’s definitely worth a visit.
